Platige Image is seeking talented Matte Painters at different levels of experience —Mid and Senior level— to join our exceptional team. If you are passionate about creating stunning visual environments and have a strong sense of color, composition, and perspective, we would love to hear from you. Below are the details of what we’re looking for at each level.

The project is planned to start in January and we are looking for candidates located in or willing to relocate to Gran Canaria as well as cooperate on a B2B contract.

Mid-level Matte Painter

Daily Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with compositors to create both realistic and stylized matte paintings that align with the project’s artistic vision.
• Develop matte paintings for integration into live-action plates, 3D renders, or CG environments.
• Ensure all work meets the technical and artistic requirements of the project while adhering to production deadlines.
• Participate in team reviews, sharing techniques, ideas, and reference materials to enhance the overall quality of the project.
• Address feedback constructively and make revisions as needed.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Solid proficiency in Photoshop.
• Working knowledge of Maya and Nuke.
• Strong understanding of perspective, color theory, and composition.
• Experience in photomontage and photo compositing.
• Artistic background in painting, drawing, or 3D modeling.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and incorporate feedback.
• Passion for movies, animation, and photography.

Additionally Scored:

• A degree in Art, Architecture, or a related field.
• Previous experience in the animation, film, or game industry.

Senior Matte Painter

Daily Responsibilities:

• Lead the creation of complex and detailed matte paintings, ensuring they align with the project’s artistic goals and technical specifications.
• Collaborate closely with compositors, VFX supervisors, and Art Directors to achieve seamless integration of matte paintings into live-action plates and CG environments.
• Participate in project planning, helping to set realistic timelines and ensuring that all work meets the highest standards within set deadlines.
• Innovate and develop new techniques, tools, and workflows to enhance the efficiency and quality of the matte painting process.
• Mentor junior artists and provide guidance to ensure the highest level of quality across all projects.

Required Skills & Experience:

• At least 5 years of experience in the VFX or game industry.
• Advanced proficiency in Photoshop, with a strong portfolio showcasing high-quality matte paintings.
• In-depth knowledge of Nuke, and other relevant software tools.
• Expert understanding of perspective, color theory, composition, and lighting.
• Extensive experience in photomontage, photo compositing, and integrating matte paintings into 3D environments.
• Strong artistic background in painting, drawing, or 3D modeling, with the ability to lead by example.
• Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and deliver on tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative work ethic.

Additionally Scored:

• A degree in Art, Architecture, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in the animation, film, or game industry, with a proven track record of successful projects.
